Below are organizational updates and weekly bits of fluff for your entertainment.  I will try to add a weekly photo as well.  Please let me know of any updates you would like added to the WICOU.

2015 Winner’s Certificate of Awesomeness!

 

And we have a Winner!  I’d like for you to believe I skipped last week’s WICOU to leave you all in suspense, but really I just ran out of time.

 

Thank you everyone who participated in this year’s WICOU Challenge!  RyanClark, with a whopping 56.5 points, has earned himself the 2015 Certificate of Awesomeness (as it pertains to WICOU Trivia) along with a fantastic trophy (see last week’s WICOU for a photo of said trophy)! 

 

This is the final 2015 WICOU, we shall be on hiatus for a few weeks for the holiday season.  Please stay tuned after the New Year when our regularly scheduled programming will resume.

 

Last Week’s Bit of Fluff: Name The Volunteers.  Based on the description, name the volunteer 5 points each!

1.      Plays rugby at UC Davis; Is an art major; from San Leandro; Was an ICO Participant; Trained as a teenager.

2.      Was an ESA Grad; Is from Oakland; Currently attends Laney College; Works for UPS; Their picture was seen in Sierra Magazine.

3.      Lives in the Bay Area, but attends Grad School is SoCal; Has been known to run races;  Worked as an Engineer; Has a motorcycle license.

a.      Sully Lee

4.      Lives in Sacramento; Works at Sacramento City College; Originally from Pennsylvania, but when to High School in Florida; Is picking the guitar back up.

a.      Tracey Hodge

5.      Also a Grad of ESA; teaches Math in Oakland; Got married this year; has been known to some as “Three Hundee”; graduated from CSU East Bay

The Weekly Update: December 14 – December 20, 2015.

 

Current Updates:

 

1.      River Mtgs: will resume in February.  If you have items you would like to have discussed in the meantime, please contact Kate Starr (kate@icorafting.org)

 

2.      Bake Sale: December 19th and 20th:  If you are in the SF on December 19th or 20th, please swing by REI at 840 Brannan St to support our bi-annual bake sale. Let your friends know we are holding this event!  If you have no plans this weekend, please contact Fred Medrano (fred.medrano@comcast.net) to help staff the table for the bake sale.  

 

3.      Annual Grassroots Letter Campaign:  The letter has been sent out. Please forward this letter with a personalized note to your friends, family, co-worker, other networks.  If we all find a couple of people to donate, we can raise a substantial amount of money.

 

4.      Partner Agency Outreach and Trainee/Volunteer Recruitment Needed:

a.      Both of these jobs have been vacated, but not re-filled.  However, we are in the season of both outreach to partner agencies for the 2016 season and recruitment for new trainees for the 2016 training season.  Please let Kate know if you would like to help in either of these areas!

 

5.      Volunteer Coordinator Recruitment:

a.      An advertisement for a new Volunteer Coordinator has been posted.  Huge Thank you to Stacey for editing and posting the advertisement.

 

6.      Training 2016:

a.      We are currently planning to have 2016 spring training.  If you want to be on the training committee please let Chris Thorsen (chris.throsen@icorafting.org) know. 

b.      TLs and Trainers: we are finalizing dates and will be sending out a request after the new year for TLs and Trainers to sign up for the training weekends.  Please look at your calendars think about keeping some weekends free in late March and April .

c.       If you know someone who would like to train this year, please contact Kate Starr for an application. Training dates are being finalized now.
