Below are organizational updates and weekly bits of fluff for your entertainment.  I will try to add a weekly photo as well.  Please let me know of any updates you would like added to the WICOU.

The Weekly Update: February 15 – February 21, 2016

 

Current Updates:

 

1.      Volunteer Application: Volunteer applications were sent out.  The deadline is quickly approaching.  The application deadline may change, so stay tuned.  Natalie and Erica P. are working on a Recruitment flyer to be sent to the participant groups.  They will be sending out an e-mail with the flyer and more information shortly. 

 

2.     CPR/First Aid Training (they are also looking for people who would like to train to teach CPR/FirstAid) : See also Mel’s e-mail from 2/16/16

ETC sponsored first aid

Dave Yacubian, from Ready SF, will be teaching (He and Sascha work together).  The course is three hours long, is a two year certification, and meets the minimum first aid certification required.  This class normally costs $75, and Dave has offered to discount the cost to $30 for ETC/ICO Guides.  Room for 5 ICO peeps.

3.      FEBRUARY River Mtg: Was held Wednesday Feb. 3, 2016 @ Steve Akeson’s (1707 Parker St, Berkeley CA 94703); Mtg include: Socializing (with delicious ginger cookies and a very excitable dog named Archer); discussions about the upcoming season; Tune up Trip/CPR/FA updates; & Training updates.  Thank you everyone who attended and called in! Mtg Minutes will be sent out ASAP.

a.      Tune Up Trip – 1 day (tho people are welcome to organize amongst themselves for a 2nd day) on the wknd of March 12th/13th

5.      OPEN LEADER ROLES Requiring Immediate Volunteers:

a.      Outreach – Contact all previous agencies w/ application for 2016 boating season.  Receive Applications, Calendar trips.  This job is currently being handled as a group.  Please cc Kate Starr, if you know of groups who whom you would like to forward the group application .

 

6.      Volunteer Coordinator Recruitment:

a.      An advertisement for a new Volunteer Coordinator has been posted.  Huge Thank you to Stacey for editing and posting the advertisement.   IN PROGRESS. 

 

7.      Training 2016:

a.      We are currently planning to have 2016 spring training.  If you want to be on the training committee please let Chris Thorsen (chris.throsen@icorafting.org) know. 

b.      TLs and Trainers: we are finalizing dates and will be sending out a request after the new year for TLs and Trainers to sign up for the training weekends.  Please look at your calendars think about keeping some weekends free in late March and April .

c.       If you know someone who would like to train this year, please contact Kate Starr for an application. Training dates have been finalized.

Older Updates:

 

1.      Annual Grassroots Letter Campaign:  The letter has been sent out. Please forward this letter with a personalized note to your friends, family, co-worker, other networks.  If we all find a couple of people to donate, we can raise a substantial amount of money.
